Consultant Social Worker - Assessment Team - Hertfordshire
Hertfordshire County Council are currently seeking experienced Consultant Social Workers to join their Assessment Team - a fantastic opportunity to work within a well-structured and supportive service.
Role: Consultant Social Worker - Assessment Team
Location: Hertfordshire
Working Pattern: Office-based duty required (1 day per week + 1 backup duty day)
About the Role:
The Assessment Team undertakes statutory assessments of children and young people in line with the Children Act 1989, focusing on understanding their health, development, and safeguarding needs.
You will be working closely with key professionals including schools, police, probation, and health services (GPs, Health Visitors, etc.), ensuring a multi-agency approach to safeguarding and care planning.
The team is committed to promoting children remaining within their families where it is safe to do so, using specialist and restorative approaches to support families in creating sustainable care plans.
Team Structure Includes:
- Social Workers
- Children's Practitioners
- Children's Information Advice Officers
- Business Support Officers
Key Points:
- Duty requirement: 1 day per week + 1 additional backup/support duty day
- Due to duty requirements, condensed hours and flexible working are not available
- Strong multi-agency working environment
- Focus on high-quality assessments and child-centred practice

Essential Requirements:
- Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
- At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
- Social Work England Registration
- Driving license and access to own vehicle
