Overall Purpose of Job
To instil confidence and resilience in the tenants of Temporary
Accommodation to whom the Council owe a homelessness duty.
To carry out a range of duties as directed within Housing Supply, to the
Boroughs homeless persons to whom the Council owe a homelessness duty,
irrespective of tenure. With a strong focus on enhanced communication,
proactivity and taking precautionary measures in regard to fire safety, officers
will provide an excellent service to customers.
To deliver the service using a digital by default approach, ensuring those who
may be disadvantaged are identified and supported.
Job Context
1. The post holder reports to the Acquisitions and Assets Manager
2. The post holder has no line management responsibility.
3. The post holder has no direct budgetary responsibilities.
Key Tasks & Accountabilities
Key tasks and accountabilities are intended to be a guide to the range and
level of work expected of the post holder. This is not an exhaustive list of all
tasks that may fall to the post holder and employees will be expected to carry
out such other reasonable duties which may be required from time to time.
To undertake all responsibilities listed below:
1. To carry out a programme of inspections to the Councils portfolio of
temporary accommodation to include the identification and recording of
repair defects and fire safety issues to provide a comprehensive report to
the provider of the property where appropriate detailing the defects or
issues that are required to be addressed and to follow up on ensuring
that these repairs have been actioned within reasonable timescales.
Liaising with the Supply and Projects Officers as required.
2. To monitor and respond to enquiries from residents, in person, through
correspondence and by telephone.
3. To ensure personal objectives and targets are met.
4. To interview residents by phone, in the office or via home visits as
required.
5. To take minutes of meeting where necessary, ensuring they are accurate
and comprehensive, and disseminated in a timely manner.
6. Provide expert advice and information to residents in respect of fire
safety and housing compliance.
7. To assist vulnerable residents where required, including liaison with
support networks, reporting and signposting adults that have been
identified as having support or other needs to the appropriate services.
8. To record resident/housing data using relevant IT systems, and maintain
resident/housing databases, ensuring that information is accurate and
provided in accordance with statutory requirements and the Council's
policy and procedures.
