Wirral - Social Worker - Permanence Team

Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to join their highly supportive Permanence Team.

Location: 2 Alice Square, Birkenhead
Pay Rate: Up to £39.00 per hour (Umbrella)

Working Pattern: Hybrid Opportunity

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of children and young people within the Permanence Team
  • Undertake assessments, care planning, and permanency planning in line with statutory requirements
  • Work closely with children, families, foster carers, and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes
  • Prepare high-quality reports for court proceedings, reviews, and case conferences
  • Ensure children's safety and wellbeing through effective safeguarding practice
  • Support long-term planning including adoption, special guardianship, and looked-after children processes
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in line with council policies and procedures
  • Participate in multi-agency meetings and contribute to decision-making for children in care
  • Build strong relationships with service users while promoting stability and permanency for children
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and professional standards

Essential Requirements:

  • Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
  • At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
  • Social Work England Registration
  • Driving license and access to own vehicle
