Wirral - Social Worker - Permanence Team
Wirral Metropolitan Borough Council is currently looking for an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to join their highly supportive Permanence Team.
Location: 2 Alice Square, Birkenhead
Pay Rate: Up to £39.00 per hour (Umbrella)
Working Pattern: Hybrid Opportunity
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of children and young people within the Permanence Team
- Undertake assessments, care planning, and permanency planning in line with statutory requirements
- Work closely with children, families, foster carers, and partner agencies to achieve positive outcomes
- Prepare high-quality reports for court proceedings, reviews, and case conferences
- Ensure children's safety and wellbeing through effective safeguarding practice
- Support long-term planning including adoption, special guardianship, and looked-after children processes
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in line with council policies and procedures
- Participate in multi-agency meetings and contribute to decision-making for children in care
- Build strong relationships with service users while promoting stability and permanency for children
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, policies, and professional standards
Essential Requirements:
- Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
- At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
- Social Work England Registration
- Driving license and access to own vehicle
