Locum Agency Family Court Adviser (FCA) - Cafcass

Brighton Base | Covering Sussex & Surrey
Long Term / Ongoing Locum Contract

We are looking for experienced Social Workers to join Cafcass as Agency FCAs working across Sussex & Surrey.
This is predominantly remote working with occasional office / hearing attendance where needed.

Teams recruiting:
WTFH (Work To First Hearing)
WAFH (Work After First Hearing)

You may express preference - or be dual stream depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities

Deliver high-quality assessments and recommendations to the Family Court across private (and where appropriate) public law proceedings

Independently manage caseloads within WTFH or WAFH, including S7 reports, risk assessments, safeguarding letters + court filings

Undertake urgent safeguarding checks, S16A risk assessments & early frontload triage (WTFH) OR maintain ongoing reporting / contact / recommendations post first hearing (WAFH)

Engage with children, parents, carers & partner agencies via remote technology with occasional in-person visits within Sussex & Surrey

Ensure accurate record keeping on ChildFirst and on time delivery of all required reports / court outputs

Requirements

SWE Registered Social Worker

Proven experience as a Court Social Worker (private law experience strongly preferred)

Strong safeguarding & court advisory knowledge

Able to work confidently in a remote first model

Able to travel across Sussex & Surrey when required
