Qualified Social Worker - Family Safeguarding Team West (St Albans & Hemel Hempstead)
Location: Apsley, Hemel Hempstead, Hertfordshire
Pay Rate: £37-£39 per hour (Umbrella)
Working Pattern: Hybrid - 3 days office-based

Hertfordshire County Council is seeking experienced Social Workers to join the Family Safeguarding Team West, providing child-focused interventions and multi-agency support for children and families in St Albans and Hemel Hempstead.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver child-centred safeguarding interventions using the Family Safeguarding model
  • Conduct assessments, care planning, and reviews for children at risk
  • Prepare and deliver welfare reports for conferences and court hearings
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to achieve positive outcomes
  • Maintain accurate case records and documentation
  • Participate in supervision, reflective practice, and training (including motivational interviewing)

Essential Requirements:

  • Social Work England Registered Qualified Social Worker
  • Minimum 3 years post-qualified experience, ideally in frontline children's teams
  • Experience with child safeguarding, risk assessments, and court processes
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of legislation, policy, and procedures
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle
