Reports To: Lettings Manager / Housing Manager

Job Summary:
The Lettings Officer is responsible for managing and coordinating the allocation of properties, ensuring compliance with housing policies, and providing excellent customer service to tenants and applicants. The role involves liaising with internal teams, external agencies, and the public to ensure properties are let efficiently, fairly, and in line with statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage the letting process from application to tenancy start, including property viewings, eligibility checks, and documentation.
Maintain and update waiting lists and property databases accurately.
Liaise with internal teams, landlords, and external agencies to facilitate lettings and tenancy management.
Ensure compliance with housing policies, legal obligations, and health & safety requirements.
Provide advice and guidance to applicants and tenants on housing options, tenancy rights, and responsibilities.
Coordinate property inspections and handovers, addressing any maintenance or repair issues.
Prepare reports and maintain records relating to lettings, vacancies, and allocations.
Assist in developing strategies to reduce void periods and improve tenancy sustainment.
Participate in outreach or community engagement activities related to housing allocations.

Skills & Qualifications:

Strong knowledge of housing and tenancy legislation.
Experience in property management or lettings, preferably in social or private housing.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
Strong organisational and administrative abilities, including record-keeping.
Ability to handle sensitive or confidential information appropriately.
Proficiency with housing management software and standard office applications.
