Senior Qualified Social Worker - Complex Care Needs Team - Wakefield Council

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Qualified Social Worker to join the Complex Care Needs Team within a well-established local authority in Wakefield. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident and experienced practitioner looking to make a positive impact while working within a supportive team.

About the Role

As a Senior Qualified Social Worker, you will work with children and families with complex care needs, undertaking high-quality assessments, managing complex cases, and supporting positive outcomes. You will also play a key role in promoting best practice and providing guidance and support to colleagues within the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a complex caseload of children and families.
  • Complete high-quality assessments, care planning, and reviews.
  • Undertake safeguarding and child protection work in line with statutory guidance.
  • Prepare reports and represent the local authority in court proceedings where required.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies to deliver effective support plans.
  • Provide mentoring, guidance, and support to less experienced social workers where appropriate.
  • Ensure accurate and timely case recording in line with organisational standards.

Requirements

  • Social Work England registration.
  • Significant post-qualifying experience within Children's Services.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and court processes.
  • Experience supporting, mentoring, or supervising social workers.
  • Excellent assessment, communication, and analytical skills.
