Job Title: Accommodation Needs Assessment Officer

Department: Housing / Adult Social Care / Accommodation Services

Reports To: Team Manager / Accommodation Services Manager

Job Summary:
The Accommodation Needs Assessment Officer is responsible for assessing and determining the accommodation requirements of clients, including vulnerable adults, children, or people with disabilities. The role involves evaluating housing needs, liaising with internal teams and external agencies, and ensuring that suitable accommodation solutions are provided in line with organisational policies, statutory obligations, and client needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients' accommodation and support needs.
Liaise with internal teams, care providers, and external agencies to identify appropriate housing solutions.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, case notes, and client correspondence.
Provide advice and guidance to clients and their families regarding housing options, eligibility, and support services.
Monitor and review accommodation placements to ensure they continue to meet client needs.
Contribute to the development of personalised accommodation plans and recommendations.
Prepare reports and present findings to management or relevant committees.
Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, organisational policies, and safeguarding procedures.
Participate in service improvement initiatives and contribute to policy development.

Skills & Qualifications:

Experience in housing, social care, or needs assessment roles.
Knowledge of housing law, accommodation standards, and social care legislation.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage sensitively with clients.
Excellent assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills.
Proficiency in case management systems and standard office software.
Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately.

External Contacts: Clients, families, carers, care providers, local authorities, and housing associations.
