Darlington Council is Looking for Social Worker for Assessment & Safeguarding Team.

Payrate: -£27.56 to £31.58 p/h Umbrella

Location: - Floor 4, Town Hall, DL1 5QT

Role Overview:
This hybrid role in Darlington's Assessment & Safeguarding Service involves providing social work support to children and families across various cases, including assessments, Child Protection, and Children in Care. The position is 37 hours per week, with flexible hours and the option to work from home, depending on your schedule. Overtime can be claimed back via TOIL with manager approval. Darlington is a small local authority with a strong focus on relational practice, offering integrated support from family services and partner organizations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide social work support to children and families, including assessments, Child Protection, Children in Need, and Children in Care.
  • Manage a caseload, ensuring timely and effective intervention in line with safeguarding procedures.
  • Work flexibly, balancing office-based and home-based work as per diary commitments.
  • Collaborate with partner organizations to deliver comprehensive support for families.
  • Attend and contribute to meetings, including Family Group Conferences and case reviews.
  • Document case progress, assessments, and interventions in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide support and guidance to families, offering solutions for complex family issues.
  • Adhere to local safeguarding policies and procedures to ensure children's safety and well-being.
  • Take part in ongoing professional development and training to enhance social work practice.

Essential Requirements:

  • Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
  • At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
  • Social Work England Registration
  • Driving license and access to own vehicle
