About the Role
Lancashire County Council is seeking an experienced and adaptable Qualified Social Worker to join its Children and Young People's Justice Service (CYJS) within the Prevention & Diversion Team.
This is a dynamic role working across East and Central Lancashire, focusing on supporting children and young people to prevent offending and reduce risk through a child-first, trauma-informed, and restorative approach.
You will work with children both in the community and secure estate, managing risk, safeguarding wellbeing, and delivering high-quality interventions that promote positive outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of children subject to community and custodial sentences
* Undertake assessments of risk, safety, and wellbeing, including high-risk cases
* Develop, implement, and review intervention plans in line with CYJS frameworks
* Deliver prevention and diversion interventions to reduce offending behaviour
* Provide reports and professional advice to Courts, including risk assessments
* Work in partnership with families, carers, and multi-agency professionals
* Ensure compliance with Lancashire Safeguarding policies and procedures
* Contribute to enforcement processes where required
* Support children's engagement and participation throughout interventions
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
* Minimum 3 years' permanent experience within a Local Authority
* Must not have held a permanent/fixed-term LA role within the last 12 weeks
* Experience working within Youth Justice / CYJS or similar settings
* Strong understanding of risk management, trauma-informed practice, and safeguarding
* Experience of court work and report writing
* Ability to work flexibly across multiple sites and respond to service needs
* Must clearly outline perm/agency roles on CV
