Job Advert: Qualified Social Worker (QSW) - Central Community Support Team
Location: Derby City Centre
Pay Rate: £30.71 per hour
Role Type: Frontline Role
Contract: 3 months (Immediate Start by 26th April)
We are looking for an experienced Qualified Social Worker (QSW) to join our Central Community Support Team in Derby. This is an exciting opportunity to work within a dynamic and busy team supporting adults with complex needs, including those with physical disabilities, cognitive needs, frailty, autism, and neurodiversity.
The team serves the city centre of Derby, supporting adults facing multiple deprivation and social exclusion. This role is essential to help individuals whose lives are shaped by complex social factors such as poverty, homelessness, substance misuse, and health inequalities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a high-volume, fast-paced caseload while maintaining quality practice and meeting competing priorities.
- Complete comprehensive assessments of need, reviews, and support plans in line with the Care Act 2014 and safeguarding duties.
- Conduct strengths-based assessments and support planning with tight deadlines.
- Undertake Mental Capacity Act (2005) assessments and make best interest decisions.
- Provide crisis management and urgent community responses as needed.
- Investigate safeguarding concerns, chair strategy meetings, and develop safety plans aligned with Making Safeguarding Personal (MSP) principles.
- Maintain excellent communication skills, advocacy, and negotiation skills when working with adults, carers, and multidisciplinary teams.
- Use Liquid Logic to record and manage case information effectively.
- Work flexibly and contribute positively to a collaborative team environment.
- Attend the office 1 day per week and participate in training and team meetings as required.
- Complete assessment visits in person across Derby City.
- Collaborate with health colleagues to access funding and Multidisciplinary Team (MDT) support.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- A Social Work England (SWE) registration is required.
- Proven ability to manage a high caseload while maintaining excellent practice standards.
- Strong experience in adult social care, including working with adults with disabilities, mental health needs, and autism.
- Extensive experience in conducting Mental Capacity Act assessments and making best interest decisions.
- Skilled in crisis management, safeguarding investigations, and implementing safety plans.
- Proficient in using Liquid Logic or similar case management systems.
- Excellent negotiation, advocacy, and communication skills with adults, carers, and other professionals.
- Ability to work autonomously and be proactive in your approach to care.
Hybrid Working:
- This role is based on a hybrid working model. You will be expected to attend the office 1 day per week and complete in-person assessment visits across the city.
