Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, hybrid working (1-2 days in office)

Job Purpose:

As a Specialist Housing Occupational Therapist, you will work within the framework of the Care Act 2014, completing strength-based assessments for individuals with disabilities. Your role will focus on promoting independent living, improving quality of life, and preventing or delaying unnecessary admissions to hospital or long-term care. You will work collaboratively with adults, families, and carers, recommending and organising the supply of equipment and structural adaptations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct strength-based assessments within the eligibility criteria, applying Care Act 2014 and relevant legislation.
  • Recommend and organise specialist equipment and structural adaptations to meet assessed needs.
  • Provide training and guidance to people with disabilities and their carers on using equipment/adaptations.
  • Collaborate with other professionals (statutory, voluntary, community resources) to deliver best services within available resources.
  • Manage a diverse workload in line with Adult Social Care priorities and Council policies.
  • Maintain accurate records, managing caseloads within agreed service standards.
  • Ensure assessments are outcome-driven, emphasising consultation and participation with people with disabilities and carers.
  • Supervise Occupational Therapy Assistants and contribute to their development.
  • Actively contribute to the City Council's goals and values, promoting equal opportunities and a non-discriminatory approach.

Requirements:

  • HCPC registered Occupational Therapist.
  • Knowledge of Care Act 2014 guidelines, manual handling techniques, and relevant legislation.
  • Experience in equipment provision and structural adaptations for individuals with disabilities.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage a diverse caseload and adhere to deadlines and standards.
