About the Service

Leicestershire's Disabled Children's Service consists of two well-established social work teams led by an experienced and supportive Service Manager. The service is trauma-informed and committed to improving how families experience support, ensuring services are accessible, inclusive, and effective.

About the Role

As Team Manager, you will provide leadership and oversight to a team of social workers, ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to children with disabilities and their families.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Leading and managing a team of social workers within the Disabled Children's Service
  • Driving performance through audit, data, and reflective supervision
  • Ensuring timely, high-quality interventions and safeguarding practice
  • Supporting staff development, learning, and continuous professional development (CPD)
  • Working closely with senior leadership and contributing to wider management meetings
  • Embedding Signs of Safety and relationship-based practice approaches
  • Supporting service development as part of an evolving and forward-thinking team

You will play a key role in shaping how services are delivered, ensuring families receive the right support at the right time, while maintaining a strong focus on the voice of the child.


About You

  • Experienced Team Manager within Children's Services
  • Strong understanding of disability, safeguarding, and SEND (including EHCP processes)
  • Confident leader with the ability to manage, motivate, and develop staff
  • Skilled in performance management, audit, and quality assurance
  • Passionate about relationship-based and trauma-informed practice
  • Knowledge or experience of Signs of Safety is desirable
  • Committed to continuous improvement, learning, and evidence-based practice

Essential Requirements:

  • Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
  • At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
  • Social Work England Registration
  • Driving license and access to own vehicle
