Social Worker - Assessment & Intervention Team

Rate: £38 per hour
Location: Southend-on-Sea (Candidates must be based within Essex)
Southend-on-Sea City Council is currently seeking an experienced Social Worker to join their Assessment & Intervention (A&I) Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a supportive and well-structured service with manageable caseloads and a clear working model.
Role Details:
- Pay Rate: £38 per hour
- Caseload: 12-15 cases
- Working Requirement: Must be based within Essex
- Driving: Essential - access to own vehicle required
Working Pattern:
- Social Workers are required to be office-based during duty week
- In the following two weeks, you will be part of a backup duty rota
- During this period, you may be required to attend the office for 1-2 days
About the Role:
You will be working within a fast-paced Assessment & Intervention Team, undertaking statutory assessments and managing safeguarding concerns to ensure the safety and wellbeing of children and families.
Key responsibilities include:
- Completing Child and Family Assessments
- Managing Child in Need and Child Protection cases
- Responding to safeguarding concerns and undertaking Section 47 enquiries
- Working closely with partner agencies to deliver effective interventions
- Maintaining accurate and timely case recordings
Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
- Current experience within an Assessment & Intervention team (essential)
- Strong understanding of safeguarding and statutory processes
- Ability to manage a caseload effectively and work under pressure
- Must live within Essex and be able to attend the office as required

Essential Requirements:
- Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
- At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
- Social Work England Registration
- Driving license and access to own vehicle
