Senior Social Worker - Assessment & Intervention Team

Location: Landmark House, Ipswich, IP1 5PF
Rate: Up to £42 per hour (Umbrella)
Hours: 37 hours per week (potentially 30 hours across 4 days)
Working Pattern: Hybrid (3 days office / 2 days remote)
Suffolk County Council is seeking an experienced Senior Social Worker to join a new pilot Assessment & Intervention team. This role sits within MASH but will focus primarily on undertaking assessments and direct work with families, offering a unique opportunity to be part of an innovative service at the forefront of early intervention.
About the Role:
This pilot team is being developed to support the IFD Assessment Team, aligned with the Family First Partnership Programme, with the aim of providing timely support to families and preventing unnecessary escalation into longer-term social work teams.
Key responsibilities include:
- Undertaking Child and Family Assessments and visiting families
- Managing risk and ensuring timely safeguarding interventions
- Supporting early intervention to improve outcomes for children and families
- Working within a fast-paced, multi-agency environment
- Contributing to the development and success of this new pilot team
Requirements:
- Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
- Strong experience within Assessment & Intervention / Frontline Teams (essential)
- Confident in undertaking assessments, managing risk, and decision-making
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a developing team

Essential Requirements:
- Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
- At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
- Social Work England Registration
- Driving license and access to own vehicle
