About the Role
Rotherham Metropolitan Borough Council is seeking an experienced and dedicated Qualified Social Worker to join its Fostering Assessment Team.
This role focuses on undertaking high-quality fostering assessments, supporting prospective foster carers, and ensuring safe, stable placements for children. You will play a key role in recruiting, assessing, and preparing foster carers to meet the needs of vulnerable children and young people.
You will work closely with applicants, families, and multi-agency professionals to ensure thorough and robust assessments in line with fostering regulations and statutory guidance.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake comprehensive Form F assessments of prospective foster carers
* Complete Connected Persons / Kinship assessments where required
* Assess suitability of applicants in line with fostering regulations and standards
* Prepare high-quality reports for fostering panels
* Present assessments at fostering panel and contribute to decision-making
* Work closely with applicants throughout the assessment process
* Liaise with multi-agency professionals to gather relevant information
* Ensure compliance with fostering legislation, policies, and safeguarding procedures
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
* Experience within Fostering / Assessment / Kinship / SGO work
* Strong knowledge of fostering regulations, standards, and processes
* Experience completing Form F or similar fostering assessments
* Ability to produce high-quality, analytical reports
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
* Ability to manage workload independently and meet deadlines
