Reports To: Housing Solutions Team Manager / Housing Manager
Job Summary:
The Housing Solutions Officer is responsible for providing housing advice, support, and solutions to clients facing housing difficulties, including homelessness. The role involves assessing housing needs, managing applications, liaising with internal teams and external agencies, and ensuring compliance with statutory duties and organisational policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Assess and determine clients' housing needs and eligibility for housing assistance.
Provide advice and guidance on housing options, tenancy rights, and support services.
Manage housing applications, referrals, and placements, including temporary accommodation.
Liaise with internal teams, landlords, housing associations, and external agencies to secure suitable accommodation.
Maintain accurate records of cases, correspondence, and housing outcomes.
Monitor and review placements to ensure client needs continue to be met.
Assist in preventing homelessness through early intervention and support measures.
Prepare reports and provide management information on housing demand, outcomes, and performance.
Ensure compliance with housing legislation, statutory requirements, and safeguarding policies.
Skills & Qualifications:
Experience in housing, homelessness prevention, or related social care roles.
Knowledge of housing law, homelessness legislation, and tenancy rights.
Strong communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to assess complex housing needs and provide practical solutions.
Proficiency in housing management systems and standard office software.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
Internal Contacts: Housing teams, Social Care teams, Finance, Legal Services, and Management.
External Contacts: Clients, families, landlords, housing associations, local authorities, and external support agencies.
