Bury - Advance Practitioner - Emergency Duty Team

Bury Council is currently seeking an experienced Advance Practitioner to support their Emergency Duty Team.

Location: Bradley Fold Road,
Pay Rate: £37.00 per hour (Umbrella)

Notes :- Will be a hybrid opportunity

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide senior-level social work leadership during out-of-hours periods, responding to urgent safeguarding concerns involving children, young people and families.
  • Undertake risk assessments and make defensible decisions in crisis situations, including strategy discussions, emergency interventions and initiating legal action where required.
  • Provide advanced practice guidance, consultation and professional supervision to EDT social workers and partner agencies during complex cases.
  • Act as the lead decision-maker for child protection, safeguarding and statutory interventions outside normal working hours.
  • Liaise effectively with police, health, housing, and other multi-agency partners to ensure coordinated emergency responses.
  • Authorise and coordinate emergency placements, including foster care, residential care and secure accommodation when necessary.
  • Ensure statutory duties and local safeguarding procedures are met in all emergency responses.
  • Maintain high-quality, timely and accurate case recording and handovers to daytime services to ensure continuity of care.
  • Contribute to service development, quality assurance and the embedding of best practice within the Emergency Duty Team.
  • Promote reflective practice, professional curiosity and high standards of safeguarding decision-making.

Essential Requirements:

  • Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
  • At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
  • Social Work England Registration
  • Driving license and access to own vehicle
