Job Summary:
Peterborough City Council is recruiting an experienced Team Manager to join our Family Safeguarding Service. We are looking for a passionate leader who is committed to safeguarding children and improving outcomes for families. Key Responsibilities Include:
Manage and supervise a Children and Families team, including Social Workers, Senior Practitioners, and Family Support Workers.
Deliver high-quality, effective safeguarding services in line with statutory guidelines and service specifications.
Allocate, plan, and review cases while ensuring caseloads are prioritised and managed effectively.
Supervise practitioners through one-to-one and group sessions, identifying strengths and development needs.
Oversee recruitment and staffing processes for the team.
Provide expert guidance on safeguarding policies, procedures, and relevant case law.
Lead on Stage 1 complaints and customer service matters.
Build and maintain strong working relationships with professionals, multi-agency partners, and internal stakeholders.
Foster a team culture that promotes professional development, accountability, and high standards of service delivery.
Candidate Requirements:
Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration.
Minimum 3 years post-qualified experience in children's social care.
Strong knowledge of childcare legislation, safeguarding policy, and statutory responsibilities.
Demonstrated experience in professional leadership, including performance management and staff supervision.
Skilled in writing formal reports and evaluating complex information for decision-making.
Commitment to anti-discriminatory practice and addressing inequality.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to motivate and challenge staff effectively.
