Location: Nottinghamshire County Council
Pay Rate: Up to £45.00 p/h (Umbrella)
Eden Brown Synergy is currently looking for an experienced and committed Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join Nottinghamshire County Council.
Role Overview:
This is an exciting opportunity for a qualified social worker to undertake key responsibilities in the independent review process for children in care. The role requires a high level of professionalism, experience, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively with senior managers.
Key Responsibilities:
* Chairing Complex Meetings: Lead and chair multi-disciplinary meetings such as Child in Need (CIN) Reviews, Public Law Outline (PLO) meetings, and other complex meetings relating to looked-after children and care leavers.
* Social Work Supervision: Provide supervision and support to junior social workers, ensuring best practice and professional development.
* Legal Knowledge: Apply your thorough understanding of the legal framework, regulations, and guidance relating to looked-after children and care leavers, ensuring the Local Authority meets its responsibilities as a corporate parent.
* Promoting the Voice of the Child: Act as an advocate for children, ensuring that their views are represented and taken into account during decision-making processes.
* Performance Monitoring: Monitor and assess the performance of the Local Authority in its function as a corporate parent, providing constructive challenge where necessary.
* Quality Standards: Define and uphold high-quality practice standards to improve outcomes for children in care and care leavers.
* Problem Solving & Time Management: Effectively manage and organize your time to meet deadlines, even under pressure. Demonstrate excellent problem-solving abilities.
* Communication: Ensure clear, concise, and effective communication both verbally and in writing, with children, families, and professionals.
Requirements:
* A professional social work qualification (Essential)
* Minimum of five years post-qualification experience, including experience of providing social work supervision and support (Essential)
* Experience of chairing complex meetings and working with senior managers (Essential)
* Thorough understanding of the legal framework, regulations, and guidance relating to looked-after children and care leavers (Essential)
* Ability to demonstrate independence and challenge effectively (Essential)
* Competent in communicating with children and ensuring their voice is heard (Essential)
* Knowledge of representation and complaints processes and procedures (Essential)
* High-level organisational skills and the ability to work under pressure (Essential)
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills (Essential)
