St. Helens - Team Manager - Duty Team

St. Helens Council is currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Team Manager to join their Duty Team.

Location:- Atlas House, 2 Corporation Street, St Helens

Pay Rate:- £46.00 per hour (Umbrella)

Working Pattern: - 2 days in the office unless on duty , which will require 5 days in office. 1 in 4 weeks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of social workers delivering timely and effective duty and assessment services.
  • Provide supervision, case oversight, and decision-making on complex safeguarding referrals and child protection concerns.
  • Oversee the screening and allocation of referrals, ensuring appropriate threshold decisions and timely interventions.
  • Ensure Child & Family Assessments, Section 17 assessments, and Section 47 enquiries are completed to a high standard and within statutory timescales.
  • Chair strategy discussions, complex case meetings, and multi-agency planning meetings where required.
  • Monitor team performance, quality assure practice, and drive continuous improvement in service delivery.
  • Support, coach, and develop social workers through reflective supervision and professional guidance.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies, including health, education, police, and legal services, to deliver effective safeguarding outcomes.
  • Manage risk effectively, ensuring children are safeguarded and appropriate action is taken in response to emerging concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory guidance, local authority policies, and performance standards while promoting high-quality, child-centred practice.

Essential Requirements:

  • Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
  • At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
  • Social Work England Registration
  • Driving license and access to own vehicle
