Manchester - Social Worker - Complex Safeguarding Team
Manchester City Council is currently seeking an experienced Social Worker to join their Complex Safeguarding Team. This is an excellent opportunity to make a meaningful impact while working within a well-established local authority.
Role Details:
Location: Greenheys Police Station, Charles Halle Road
Pay Rate: Up to £35.00 per hour (Umbrella)
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of complex safeguarding cases involving children at risk of significant harm, exploitation, and abuse.
- Undertake comprehensive Child & Family Assessments, Section 47 enquiries, and risk assessments in line with statutory guidance.
- Identify and respond to complex safeguarding concerns, including child sexual exploitation (CSE), child criminal exploitation (CCE), contextual safeguarding, and extra-familial harm.
- Develop, implement, and review robust child protection and safeguarding plans to reduce risk and improve outcomes.
- Build effective relationships with children, young people, and families, ensuring the child's voice is central to all decision-making.
- Work collaboratively with police, education, health, youth justice, and other multi-agency partners to coordinate safeguarding interventions.
- Prepare high-quality assessments, reports, and court documentation to support legal proceedings where required.
- Attend and contribute to strategy meetings, Child Protection Conferences, Core Group Meetings, and other statutory forums.
- Maintain accurate, timely case records and ensure compliance with statutory legislation, local policies, and safeguarding procedures.
- Promote strengths-based, trauma-informed, and child-centred practice to achieve sustainable positive outcomes for vulnerable children and young people.
Essential Requirements:
- Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
- At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
- Social Work England Registration
- Driving license and access to own vehicle
