Working Pattern: Hybrid - Only 1 day per month in the office

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Council Tax Adviser (PO1) to join a busy Revenues & Benefits team within the London Borough of Haringey. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Council Tax professional looking for a predominantly remote role with a competitive hourly rate.

The Role

You will be responsible for the accurate and timely administration of Council Tax billing, ensuring compliance with current legislation while supporting the maximisation of Council Tax collection. You will provide a high-quality, customer-focused service, dealing directly with residents and stakeholders through telephone, written correspondence, and digital channels.

Key Responsibilities
Administer Council Tax accounts accurately and efficiently in line with legislation and council procedures.
Maximise Council Tax collection through effective case management.
Provide clear and professional advice to residents via telephone, email, written correspondence, and other communication channels.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Council Tax legislation, case law, and the Local Council Tax Reduction Scheme.
Prioritise and manage your own workload to meet performance targets and service standards.
Liaise with internal departments and external organisations to resolve customer enquiries.
Work collaboratively within the Revenues & Benefits team, contributing ideas to improve processes and customer experience.
Ensure compliance with all current Council Tax legislation, policies, and working practices.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Previous experience working in a Council Tax or Revenues environment within a local authority.
Strong knowledge of Council Tax legislation, billing, discounts, exemptions, and recovery processes.
Experience of the Local Council Tax Reduction Scheme.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage a varied workload and meet deadlines.
The ability to work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team.
