About the Role
Bolton Council is seeking an experienced and committed Qualified Social Worker to join its Kinship Fostering Team.
This role focuses on supporting family and friends carers to provide safe, stable, and nurturing placements for children who cannot live with their parents. You will undertake detailed kinship and connected persons assessments, ensuring that children are placed within their wider family networks wherever possible.
You will play a key role in promoting permanence and positive outcomes for children through high-quality assessments and support to kinship carers.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake Connected Persons / Kinship assessments for prospective carers
* Complete comprehensive Form K / Special Guardianship (SGO) assessments
* Assess suitability of family and friends carers in line with statutory guidance
* Prepare high-quality reports for fostering and court processes
* Present assessments to fostering panels and court where required
* Provide ongoing support and guidance to approved kinship carers
* Work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals to safeguard children
* Ensure compliance with fostering regulations and safeguarding procedures
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration
* Experience within Kinship / Fostering / SGO / Connected Persons work
* Strong knowledge of fostering regulations, kinship care, and statutory processes
* Experience completing Form K / SGO / Connected Persons assessments
* Ability to produce high-quality, analytical court-ready reports
* Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
* Ability to manage workload independently and meet deadlines
