About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Children in Care Senior Social Worker to join a well-established local authority in Barnsley.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled social worker to make a meaningful impact by supporting children and young people, while working within a supportive and forward-thinking team. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality social work practice and ensuring positive outcomes for children in care.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of children in care, ensuring their needs are assessed and effectively supported.
Complete high-quality assessments, care planning, and statutory visits.
Work collaboratively with children, families, carers, and partner agencies.
Undertake safeguarding and child protection responsibilities where required.
Prepare reports and contribute to court proceedings.
Support, mentor, and provide guidance to less experienced social workers.
Promote best practice and contribute to continuous service improvement.
Requirements
Active registration with Social Work England.
Significant post-qualifying experience within Children's Services.
Strong knowledge of safeguarding, child protection, and court processes.
Experience supporting, mentoring, or supervising social workers.
Excellent assessment, communication, and analytical skills.
Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary environment.
