Wigan Council is currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to join their Family Safeguarding Team.

Location:- College Avenue

Pay Rate:- £38.00 per hour (Umbrella)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of children and families, delivering high-quality safeguarding and support interventions.
  • Undertake Child & Family Assessments, Section 17 assessments, and Section 47 enquiries in line with statutory guidance.
  • Develop, implement, and review child-centred plans that reduce risk and improve outcomes for children.
  • Build strong, strengths-based relationships with children, young people, and their families to promote sustainable change.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals, including health, education, police, and specialist adult services, to deliver coordinated support.
  • Identify, assess, and manage safeguarding risks, taking timely action to protect children from harm.
  • Attend and contribute to Child Protection Conferences, Core Group Meetings, and other statutory planning meetings.
  • Prepare high-quality assessments, reports, and court documentation where required.
  • Maintain accurate, timely case records in line with statutory requirements and local authority standards.
  • Promote the child's voice, family resilience, and positive outcomes through a strengths-based and relationship-focused approach.

Essential Requirements:

  • Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
  • At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
  • Social Work England Registration
  • Driving license and access to own vehicle
