Wigan - Social Worker - Family Safeguarding Team
Wigan Council is currently seeking an experienced and dedicated Social Worker to join their Family Safeguarding Team.
Location:- College Avenue
Pay Rate:- £38.00 per hour (Umbrella)
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of children and families, delivering high-quality safeguarding and support interventions.
- Undertake Child & Family Assessments, Section 17 assessments, and Section 47 enquiries in line with statutory guidance.
- Develop, implement, and review child-centred plans that reduce risk and improve outcomes for children.
- Build strong, strengths-based relationships with children, young people, and their families to promote sustainable change.
- Work collaboratively with multi-agency professionals, including health, education, police, and specialist adult services, to deliver coordinated support.
- Identify, assess, and manage safeguarding risks, taking timely action to protect children from harm.
- Attend and contribute to Child Protection Conferences, Core Group Meetings, and other statutory planning meetings.
- Prepare high-quality assessments, reports, and court documentation where required.
- Maintain accurate, timely case records in line with statutory requirements and local authority standards.
- Promote the child's voice, family resilience, and positive outcomes through a strengths-based and relationship-focused approach.
Essential Requirements:
- Social Work Qualification - Degree or equivalent
- At least 3 years' experience as a social worker within children's services
- Social Work England Registration
- Driving license and access to own vehicle
