Sefton Council is currently seeking a highly experienced and motivated Qualified Social Worker (QSW) to join our Adult Social Care Reassessment Team. This is a vital frontline role focused on delivering high-quality, person-centred social work practice to adults with complex needs.

We are looking for a practitioner with substantial experience in adult social care who is confident in managing complex cases, undertaking thorough reassessments, and contributing to legal proceedings when necessary.

Key Responsibilities
Carry out comprehensive reassessments in line with the Care Act 2014, ensuring a strengths-based and person-centred approach.

Manage complex cases involving risk, safeguarding, mental capacity assessments, and legal interventions.

Provide evidence and professional reports for court proceedings, particularly around care and mental capacity matters.

Demonstrate expert knowledge of social work models, theory, and best practice, applying them to practice effectively.

Offer professional guidance and support to colleagues across the service, contributing to a culture of learning and development.

Take part in the teaching and assessment of social work students on practice placements, sharing your expertise and supporting professional growth.

About You
Registered with Social Work England

Significant post-qualifying experience within adult social care

Sound knowledge of relevant legislation including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, and Safeguarding Adults procedures

Experience in preparing for and presenting in court proceedings

Skilled in multi-disciplinary working and confident in lone decision-making

Previous experience supervising or supporting social work students is desirable
